Joe Peeler

Obituary of Joe Peeler

Joe Billy Peeler

Lansing, Michigan

Joe B. Peeler, 70, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at McLaren Greater Lansing Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  Joe was born September 30, 1947 in Tompkinsville, KY.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Michelene Peeler; parents, Cloy and Vada Peeler; brothers, James and Jerry Peeler; and sister, Audrey Peeler.

Joe is survived by his ex-wife and significant other, Melanie Peeler; sons, Joseph, Tyler and Jordan Peeler; daughter, Courtney Peeler; grandson, Joseph Morgan-Peeler; granddaughter, Lauren Demmon; great-granddaughter, Krystin Erskine; brothers, Bobby and Roger Peeler; and sister, Brenda Snoke.

Joe was employed with General Motors from January 1966 until his retirement in July 2000.  He started his career at GM in production, and later went on to achieve his journeyman license as a machine repairman.  The motto Joe’s coworkers had for him: “If your machine is down and it won’t go, then call the Expert, Joe!”  Joe served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 and fought in the Vietnam War.

Joe enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, thrifting, coin collecting, old cars (the faster, the better), and motorcycles too.  He loved his pine trees and flowers in his yard, and took great pride in taking care of them.  He was a man of few words, but those he allowed into his circle of friends understood what a great man he was.  Joe had a rough exterior but a heart as big as life.

Joe was a loving and caring ex-husband and father.  His children were his world and were the ones he always cared/worried about, even during his illness.  He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Funeral Service is 11 AM Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W.
