Formerly of Lansing
Age 78, our loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away June 28, 2018. Born January 28, 1940 in Lansing, MI. He was a graduate of Resurrection High School. David and his wife Karen raised their family in Lansing. They moved to Traverse City where they lived in Leelanau County for the last 28 years. He retired from Canon USA after a rewarding career in the photographic industry. While with Canon USA, David was recognized and honored as Best Salesman Worldwide. In retirement, he enjoyed boating on Lake Leelanau and bass fishing in Florida. David was a loyal and thoughtful friend and neighbor to many.
Surviving are his 2 daughters, Cheryl (Phil) Williams-Hecksel, and Dana “Chris” (Xavier) Barajas; 4 grandchildren, Alicia (Matthew Hranchook) Barajas, Andrea (Ryan) Loucks, Aimee Barajas, and Adi Barajas; 2 sisters, Jeanne Ann (LeRoy) Cardwell, and Mary (Tom Bensel) Williams; 3 brothers, Richard (Suzanne) Williams, Jim (Mardy) Williams, and John (Faye) Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Karen in 2015, and son, Donald in 1993; parents, Harry & Doris Williams.
The family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, July 5th in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. A celebration of memories of David will occur at 7pm. Funeral Liturgy is 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour, Lansing with Fr. Karl Pung presiding. Gathering will be from 9-10 A.M. Friday at church. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery where David, Karen and Donald will be laid to rest together.
