Obituary of Odilla Marcella Perez

Odilla (Dilly) Marcella Perez, born April 6, 1931 in Mt. Clemens, MI to Febroni and Joseph Deschryver, died August 7, 2018.  Her family moved to Belgium when she was a child, where she graduated from school in Vladso, Belgium.  Dilly moved back to the United States with her parents in 1949.  She worked at Reo Motors, and then MSU as a clerk typist.  She married her husband, Jesse Perez, in 1955 and they spent the next 63 years loving and caring for each other.  Together, they raised 5 children, Michael (Esther), John (Janet), Susan Strouse (Robert), Robert (Fiancé Carrie Spoerle), and Paul (Tommi).  They have 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Besides her husband and children, Dilly is also survived by her brother, Joseph Deschryver; and 2 sisters, Rosa Rohlman and Hilda Deschryver.  Dilly was predeceased by her parents and 2 sisters, Noella Houck and Mary Hundt.  Dilly was a proud charter member of St. Therese Catholic Church where she participated in various activities, including the women’s society, the choir, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and other various ministries.  Family and faith were paramount to Dilly.  She especially enjoyed camping with her family, knitting and crocheting afghans for her grandchildren and others, baking bread and cinnamon rolls, as well as going for walks with Jesse and reading.  She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her.  Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6:30 – 8 PM Thursday, August 9, 2018 with a Vigil Service at 7 PM, all at St. Therese Catholic Church, 102 W. Randolph St., Lansing.  Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be 11 AM Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Fr. Anthony Strouse officiating, with visitation one hour prior to mass.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery immediately following the funeral.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Therese Catholic Church in her memory.  A special thanks to the staff of Gunnisonville Meadows Assisted Living and McLaren Greater Lansing Hospice for their excellent care.  The family is being served by Tiffany Funeral Home.  Friends may visit the guestbook at www.tiffanyfuneralhome.com
