Nell Moyer

Obituary of Nell Jean Moyer

Nell Jean Moyer (Currin), 85, died September 1, 2018 in Grand Ledge, MI of natural causes.  Born June 22, 1933 in Greenfield, TN she was the daughter of Hoyt Currin and Mildred Currin (Earls).  The family moved to Lansing when she was 6.

She met Edward Hawley Moyer while at Lansing Eastern HS and they married soon after in 1951.  They were together for more than 65 years until his death in January 2017.  Mom never stopped loving him and missed him dearly.

She is survived by her daughters, Lindy (John) Sigulinsky, Jean (David) Boes, and LeAnne (Steve) Reed; sons, Edward (Mary) Moyer and John (Sherri) Moyer; many grandchildren; and even more great-grandchildren; special (and only) sister, Gail (Don) Fisher, with whom she was always close; brother-in-law, Dick (Dawn) Perry; and special friends, Eileen and Larry Barlage and Bettye Perry.

Mom supported Dad in starting Moyers’ Tax Service in 1964 to help provide for the ever-growing family she and he created.  Mom was our nurturing mother, office manager, nurse, caregiver loving wife and friend to may throughout her 85 years.  She also earned a Cosmetology license and we were all so proud of her accomplishment.

Dad and Mom loved and enjoyed their family deeply, as well as their travels together throughout the years with Gail and Don and other friends.  Dad journaled their years together in a beautiful love story that we who remain will always cherish.  Mom’s passing is the final chapter of the love they shared until the end of their days.  She never recovered from his death in 2017, and now joins him in God’s Heaven through their faith in Christ.

The family thanks both the wonderful caregivers of Independence Village StoryPoint-Grand Ledge and Michigan Premier Hospice of Lansing for their loving care.  Those wishing to make contributions in her memory may do so for either organization in lieu of flowers.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing.  Visitation will be Wednesday 5-8 PM at the funeral home.  Friends may visit the guestbook at
