Wilbert “Bill” Steward

Age 79, our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called home to his Lord on January 12, 2019.  Wilbert was born April 23, 1939 in Forrest City, Arkansas.  He was a Muskegon (Big Red) Senior High School graduate of 1954.  He served with the U.S. Air Force.   He was a graduate Muskegon School of Business, Lansing Community College, and John Wesley College of Owosso.  Wilbert was an avid music lover and loved all sports, especially tennis, basketball, and football. But most of all he Loved the Lord and was always was ready to help someone in need.  He loved coaching, and was a basketball coach at Holy Cross Catholic School for both girls and boys.  He was an avid University of Michigan fan. He loved to travel and was a snow bird for over 20 years in Florida along with his wife. He loved to cruise, loved to cook, making the best barbecue ever, and was a skilled financial consultant and loved business.  He loved teaching, books, and children.  He and his wife, traveled in 37 of 50 of the United States. They travel to: London, England; Paris, France; Aruba; China (climbed the Great Wall); Virgin Islands; St. Thomas; St. Martin; Sidney, Australia (Climbed the Sidney Bridge); Belize; and the Cayman Island.

Wilbert had a true love for his family and loved and cherished his wife and kids. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 49 years, Willie J. Steward (Their  union in marriage was on December 8, 1969) ; 2 daughters, Shannon Michelle (husband, James)(Steward) Washington, and Veronica Lake (husband, Michael)(Steward) Taylor; son Craig Todd (wife, Amy) Steward, Sr.; his beloved 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends;  special friend, Chuck Walker.   He was preceded in death by his mother, Dellie (Howard) Steward; father, Walter Steward; and 1brother, Curtis Steward and host of relatives called home in the name of Jesus.

Family hour will begin at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday with Homegoing Services at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw, Lansing, Michigan with Pastor Jerry Riley officiating.     Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by V.F.W. Post #701.
