Calvin “Cody” Murphy McDuffie III
Calvin “Cody” Murphy McDuffie III was born September 24, 1965, and fell asleep in death on January 25, 2019, at the age of 53. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Calvin Murphy McDuffie Jr. and Vivian Lucille Williams McDuffie.
Cody grew up in Detroit, Michigan where he attended Osborn High School and was a member of the football team. Cody later relocated to Lansing, Michigan and graduated from Waverly High School.
After graduating he went into the Financial Services Industry and owned a Mortgage Company. Cody went on to earn his Doctorate Degree in Psychology from Walden University and was employed as a teacher in several local school districts. He enjoyed hunting, cooking and traveling, but most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
On April 21, 1984, he married Sheryl (Shari) Cross in Lansing, Michigan. To this union two children were born: Calvin (Kody) K. McDuffie IV and Capri-Gabrielle Vaughn.
Cody was preceded in death by his father, Calvin M. McDuffie Jr. and his sister, Nikol Brooks. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 35 years, Shari McDuffie; three treasured children Calvin K. McDuffie IV (Lacey), Capri-Gabrielle Vaughn, and Connor McDuffie; beloved grandchildren, Samaira Ann-Renee McDuffie and Kyle Robert-David Vaughn Jr.; loving mother, Vivian Lucille McDuffie; adored siblings, Kimberly Bunch and Tiera McDuffie (Cliff); father-in-law and special friend David Cross and mother-in-law Beverly Cross, and a host of supportive family and friends.
Cody’s study of the Bible and what he learned about God’s Kingdom moved him to dedicate his life and be baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1986. He was a member of the Delta Township Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and actively served Jehovah until his passing.
He will be greatly missed until we see him again when our loving heavenly father, Jehovah, restores him back to his vibrant life in the promised paradise on earth to come.
Services will 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2730 Delta River Drive, Lansing, Michigan 48906. The family will receive friends prior to the services.
