Obituary of Lois Louise Taft

Lois Louise Taft

Lansing

Age 83, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away April 24, 2019 at her home with family.  Born June 20, 1935 in Lansing, MI.  She attended Lesie High School.  Lois was the cook, owner, and operator of the Black Cow  restaurants in Jackson and Hanover Horton for many years.  With her love for children, Lois later operated a  daycare that was in her home for 22 years.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, William Howard Taft Sr.; 8 children, Marilyn Hyde, Rodney Santora, Randy (Judy) Peterson, Debbie (Mike) Hursh, Christina Hunn, Theresa Fox, Patty (Dennis) Green, Eugene Walter Littlejohn and 35 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren with two on the way.  She also has 4 step-children,  William H Taft Jr (Gus), Sue (Jack) Gleason, Jackie (Mike) Nichols, Mike (Krisztina) Taft; 2 brothers, Doug Hakes, and David Hakes; and many other family members and friends.  Lois was preceded in death by her 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Lois met her husband William on a night on the town throwing bowling balls, dancing and laughing the night away at Metro Bowling Alley. After years of marriage Lois and William found a second love in camping, where they spent many summer nights enjoying sunsets and bonfires and riding the golf cart around at Lighthouse Village Campground in Homer Michigan for 29 wonderful years.  They were always the life of the campground welcoming you as you drove by thier site.

The celebration of Lois’ life will be from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Morley S. Oates V.F.W. Post 701, 123 North Rosemary, Lansing, Michigan  48917
