Obituary of Kary Patreese Hackbarth
Kary Patreese Hackbarth
Kary Patreese Hackbarth of Lansing, MI, age 43, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, January 27, 2020. She was born January 29, 1976 in Oakland County, MI to Roger and Judy (deceased) Hackbarth. Her family meant the world to her — brother, Chris (Heather Driscoll) Hackbarth, and little sister, Rebecca Hackbarth (deceased).
Kary graduated from Hillsdale College with Honors in 1998, and received her Master’s Degree from Michigan State University. She was a longtime teacher at New Covenant Christian School in Lansing, as well as Lansing Community College. She shared her love of math with her students, and her nieces and nephew. Her eyes would light up with the opportunity to solve complex math problems, and one could truly feel her passion for numbers. She was a long-time devoted member of Riverview Church, where worship brought her great joy.
Kary was a #1 Spartan fan, a Disney lover, a lifelong passionate math teacher, a faithful Christian, and a patient listener. She lived her life quietly, with passion for God, her students, her family, and her friends. She was blessed to have many close friends throughout her life, including her longtime roommate and friend Khati Brazee. Kary enjoyed her Disney vacations, trips to Minnesota to visit her friends (and her number-one fan, Liam), her dog Tayten, and always MSU Women’s basketball games. Recently she became engaged to Max Miller of Fosston, MN - finally her prince had come, and she had the chance to experience true love and her fairy tale was complete!
