Obituary of Jorge Luis Soto
Jorge Luis Soto
Loving husband, dad, son, brother, and uncle passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2020 after complications of rhabdomyolysis. Born July 19, 1989 in Houston, Texas; son of Vilma Mejia & Jorge Soto. Jorge and his family moved to Lansing in 2002. During his life he had many wonderful experiences, especially through his time in the military where he served 8 years in the Army Reserve with one tour in Afghanistan. Jorge worked at Teachout Security while pursuing a career in law enforcement. He made friends throughout life that became his family.
Jorge’s happiest moments were spent with friends and family. That may have included a trip to Traverse City or simply cooking out with an Old Fashioned to drink and a cigar in hand. His favorite recreational activities included camping, date night at the gun range or going to the movies.
Jorge and Kaila were high school sweethearts and “finally” got married in 2018. They spent nearly 12 years building a life together, and recently became homeowners & parents.
Jorge recently became a father and enjoyed every minute. Viviene is the light of his life and she could not have asked for a better Dad. They would carry on in “deep conversation” and watch boxing videos together. She was his beautiful little jellybean and he loved her unconditionally.
Surviving are his wife, Kaila (Panessidi) Soto; his beloved daughter, Viviene Leigh Soto; mother, Vilma Soto; father, Jorge Soto; abuela, Magdalena Amezquita; sister, Guadalupe “Caro” Soto; 2 brothers, Alejandro “Alex” Soto and Hernan Soto; father-in-law, Tom (Lynne) Panessidi; sister-in-law, Tia (Michael) Hicks and their children Jaxon and Alexia. As well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends he considered family.
