Chuck received his machine repair Journeyman's card in the 1950s with General Motors. Later he accepted a position at Kaiser Aluminum then at Libby's that resulted in moving to Indiana, Illinois, Ontario, Canada, and returned back to General Motors in Lansing where he retired.

Chuck was known as "Ask Ole Charlie" by many for his selfless donation of his time and skills to resolve problems for others, never taking compensation. He was skilled in many fields. He flourished with woodworking, and along with his mechanical knowledge he could surpass most peoples' abilities. He enjoyed bowling and earned a Singles Handicap Series title (797) during the 1997 Lansing USBC City Tournament. He was also known for his delicious homemade caramel corn and peanut brittle. God only knows how may pounds he sold over the years with the profits going to the Men's Club at St. Therese. He was also deeply involved with the St .Vincent DePaul Food Bank at St. Therese.
