Allan Robert Stevens
Age 88, our loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and co-worker was called home to his Lord on March 23, 2018.. Born in Lansing on April 4, 1929 the son of Robert and Florence (Federau) Stevens. Allan graduated from Lansing Technical High School in 1948. De Vry Technical Electronics Institute of Chicago, IL in 1954. He completed his maintenance & communication officers' course of electronic maintenance at Fort Gordon, GA as well as radiation course in 1980. Allan retired from the Michigan Military Affairs in 1987. He was a member of the Michigan National Guard where he earned the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. Allan was an electronics maintenance supervisor with more than 30 years of maintenance support. He served in the naval reserves, the Korean War (1950-1952). Allan also owned and operated "Stevens Television Service" for many years. Allan was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church since 1960. He grew in his faith as a member of the Knights of Columbus Richard Council #788, as 3rd Degree Knight. He was a volunteer for the Boy Scouts, and a docent for the State of Michigan Historical Museum, as absentee ballot inspector for Delta Township, member of the Waverly 39ers, Military Officers Association of America, and American Legion Post #1078. Allan enjoyed playing golf, going bow hunting with family members, car shows with his yellow 1978 Corvette, and mostly time with family member on Christmas Eve and summer get togethers.
He leaves a loving wife Patricia of 64 years whom he married in 1953 at St. Mary Cathedral. He leaves five children of which he was very proud, Diane (Warren) Burley of Lansing, Susan Smith of East Lansing, Mark (Denise) Stevens of Shelbyville, TN, Paul of Grand Ledge, and Chris of Jackson; 10 grandchildren: of who was his pride and joy. Matthew (Jasmine) Smith, Alison Smith of Columbus, GA, Michael (Stacey) Burley of Lansing, Lisa Burley of Madison, WI, Jennifer (Andy) Brown of Murfeesboro, TN, Kelly Stevens of Franklin, TN, Kate Stevens in the U.S. Airforce, Nolan Stevens of Chelsea, MI, Ashley (Michael) Wilhoite of Shelbyville, TN, and Garret (Tamara) Wagner of Murfeesboro, TN; and 7 great-grandchildren: Dee Smith, Rosalynn & Logan Burley, Parker Wilhoite, Knox, Emery Kate and Bryce Wagner; sister, Betty (Charles) Bowers of Ionia; and many nieces and nephews. Allan was preceded in death by his grandson, Robbie Stevens; son-in-law, Donald Smith; his parents.
Visitation is from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Monday with a 7:00 P.M. Vigil Service in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy is 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 27, at St. Gerard Catholic Church with Fr. Vincent Richardson presiding. Viewing will be from 10- 11 A.M. Tuesday at church.
